Why Exotic Cars Require a Different Approach
Most protection installs involve a predictable set of variables. Standard paint, standard clear coat thickness, standard panel geometry. The prep process is dialed in and repeatable.
Exotic vehicles break almost every assumption in that process.
Ferrari factory paint is softer than most European manufacturers’. Lamborghinis with Ad Personam finishes or forged composite panels have surfaces that respond differently to correction compounds and film adhesion. McLarens have lightweight carbon-fiber panels that flex during film application in ways traditional metal panels don’t. Maserati and other Italian manufacturers often use deep, rich paint that shows defects more visibly than lighter colors.
Before we touch any exotic, we do a full paint assessment. We measure paint depth across every panel with a digital depth gauge. We check the clear coat condition under high-intensity lighting. We identify any areas of prior repair, respray, or compromised clear coat. Only then do we make recommendations.
Some shops skip this step. On a standard vehicle, that’s a gamble. On a Ferrari or McLaren, it’s a mistake that can’t be undone.
Paint Correction on Exotic Paint
Correction is where the process diverges most from standard work.
On a typical vehicle, we run a more aggressive compound to remove heavier defects, then refine with a lighter polish. On exotic paint, we work more conservatively. A depth reading that shows a thin, clear coat changes the correction plan entirely. We reduce compound aggression, shorten working time, and check depth again mid-correction to ensure we have remaining margin.
The goal is the same: a defect-free surface before film or coating goes on. A coating permanently locks in whatever is under it. Swirl marks, light scratches, and haze present at application stay there. We don’t compromise on that step, but we also don’t take risks with a clear coat that can’t be replaced without a full respray.
Our multi-stage paint correction process is adapted to the specific paint condition and depth of each panel.
STEK PPF for Exotic Vehicles
We install STEK certified films on every PPF job, including exotic vehicles. STEK is the brand we’re certified to install, and we’ve found it performs consistently on high-value vehicles across a range of paint types and panel geometries.
Our STEK film options include DYNOshield (gloss finish, 10-year warranty), DYNOmatte (satin finish, for matte and satin paint), DYNOblack (stealth dark finish), and DYNOprism (color-shift). For exotics with factory matte or satin paint, DYNOmatte preserves the original finish character while adding self-healing protection.
Self-healing means the film closes fine surface scratches when exposed to heat from sunlight or warm water. It doesn’t repair cuts through the film. But the light contact marks from jackets, keys, and parking lot mishaps that plague high-gloss exotic paint clear up on their own with DYNOshield and DYNOmatte.
Our edge wrapping approach extends patterns and wraps edges wherever the panel geometry allows. On exotic vehicles with complex curves and sharp styling lines, this takes longer than a standard install. We don’t cut at panel edges when wrapping is possible.
For full-coverage PPF, we film the entire vehicle. Most exotic owners start with high-impact zones: full front end, hood, fenders, mirrors, and rocker panels. A full vehicle is the right choice for vehicles driven on track or in high-debris conditions.
Matte and Special Finishes
Several exotic manufacturers offer factory matte finishes through special order programs. Lamborghini’s Ad Personam, Ferrari’s Tailor Made, and McLaren’s MSO all produce matte and satin variants.
Standard gloss PPF over a matte finish adds gloss to the surface. That’s not what the owner paid for.
DYNOmatte is the film for these applications. It maintains the matte or satin appearance, adds the same self-healing protection as DYNOshield, and comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. If you have a factory matte exotic, it needs a matte film. We stock it.
Carbon Fiber Panels
Many current exotic models feature exposed or painted carbon fiber panels. McLaren uses a carbon fiber monocoque throughout the car. Lamborghinis with exposed CF trim, Ferraris with carbon-fiber hood or roof panels, and McLarens with carbon-fiber surrounds all present distinct surfaces for PPF installation.
Carbon fiber panels flex differently from metal. During application, the film must follow the micro-contours of the weave pattern. Heat application during installation needs to be controlled more carefully on CF than on standard panels.
We regularly work with CF panels on exotics. It’s a different installation technique, not a harder one, once the process is dialed in.
GYEON Ceramic Coating for Exotic Vehicles
A GYEON Quartz protection applied over PPF or directly on paint adds a hydrophobic surface layer that resists contamination and UV degradation. On exotic paint, the UV protection is particularly valuable. Texas summer heat and UV intensity accelerate clear coat oxidation on any vehicle. On a Rosso Corsa Ferrari or Blu Nethuns Lamborghini, that fading is expensive to address.
GYEON Quartz is a professional-only product. It’s not available over the counter. It requires certified installation conditions and the correct substrate preparation. The outcome is a surface that’s significantly easier to maintain, resists water spotting and contamination, and holds its depth and clarity longer than unprotected paint.
We apply GYEON over PPF, over bare paint, or on interior trim pieces where applicable. Customers who do both protection film and ceramic coating get the most complete protection available.
Ongoing Maintenance
Exotic owners who drive their vehicles deserve a maintenance plan that keeps the protection working. Our exotic car wash program uses pH-neutral products, proper wash technique, and deionized water filtered to 10 PPM. Automatic car washes and standard hand washes introduce swirl marks that compromise both the paint and the coating over time.
We also offer standalone exterior care services for exotic owners who want a detail between protection appointments.
Track Day Vehicles
Austin is home to the Circuit of the Americas. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens regularly run track days at COTA. Track driving puts paint at significantly higher risk from debris, stone chips, and brake dust contamination.
We work with track owners to build protection packages that match their usage. A vehicle driven on track twice a month needs different coverage than one that sees occasional weekend driving. A full-front PPF combined with a ceramic coating is the most common track setup. Full-vehicle film is worth considering for owners who run frequently.

Exotic Car Protection FAQs
Do you work on Ferrari and Lamborghini?
Yes. We protect exotic vehicles, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and Porsche at our Round Rock facility. We start every exotic install with a full paint assessment before any work begins.
Why does exotic car paint need special handling?
Factory paint on exotic vehicles varies significantly by manufacturer and model. Ferrari paint is softer than that of most European manufacturers. Lamborghinis with Ad Personam finishes respond differently to correction compounds. McLaren carbon fiber panels flex under film application in ways traditional metal panels don’t. We assess each vehicle specifically rather than applying a standard process.
Can you install PPF on a matte factory paint finish?
Yes. We use STEK DYNOmatte film for matte and satin factory finishes. Standard gloss PPF applied over matte paint adds gloss to the surface, which isn’t what the owner paid for. DYNOmatte maintains the original matte or satin character while adding self-healing protection and a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
How do you handle paint correction on exotic paint?
More conservatively than on standard vehicles. We measure paint depth on every panel with a digital gauge before correction starts, and we check depth again mid-correction on thinner areas. On exotic paint that reads thin, we reduce compound aggression and working time. The goal is a defect-free surface without removing more clear coat than necessary.
Can you apply PPF to carbon fiber panels?
Yes. Carbon fiber panels flex differently from metal panels, and the installation technique accounts for that. We apply heat more carefully on CF to follow the micro-contours of the weave without distorting the film. We work with carbon fiber regularly on McLarens, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis.
How long does an exotic car PPF installation take?
Partial front-end coverage typically takes two to three days on an exotic. Full-vehicle coverage on a complex design like a Lamborghini Aventador or McLaren 720S can take four to six days. We don’t rush exotic installs. We provide a realistic timeline after reviewing the specific vehicle.
What's the difference between partial and full-vehicle PPF?
Partial coverage protects the highest-impact zones: full front end, hood, front fenders, mirrors, and rocker panels. Full-vehicle films every exposed painted surface. For track-day vehicles or owners who want the most comprehensive protection, a full vehicle is the right choice. For street drivers, partial coverage in the areas most likely to take damage is cost-effective.
Should I get PPF, ceramic coating, or both?
Both on exotic vehicles. PPF provides physical impact protection against stone chips and debris. Ceramic coating adds UV protection, resistance to contamination, and hydrophobic properties that make the vehicle easier to maintain. The two products are complementary, not competing. We apply ceramic over PPF and over bare paint.
Do you have experience with track day vehicles?
Yes. We’re familiar with Circuit of the Americas and the kind of track cars see in the Austin area. Track driving puts paint at significantly higher risk than street driving. We build protection packages around actual usage patterns. If you run COTA regularly, we can put together a coverage plan that aligns with it.
Is your facility suitable for exotic vehicles?
Yes. Our facility is climate-controlled and indoors. Temperature and humidity affect how PPF bonds during installation. We use deionized water filtered under 10 PPM throughout the prep and wash process. Every vehicle is worked on inside, not in a parking lot or open bay. That matters on a high-value exotic vehicle.
